Recovery on Two Fronts

Sometime in the evening a few days after the rescue from Talos and his destruction a THUMP sounded from the guest room in Va'Shanna and Nick's home. "OW!"
V's ears perked and she pulled away from kissing Nick to get up and check on Angel.
When Va'Shanna got there, Angel was on the floor, holding her hip which she had landed on.  Despite the slow healing of the brand area on her hip, her other wounds that she had sustained during her time with Talos were healing quite nicely, now just faint marks on her flesh. Carefully Angel pulled herself back onto the bed, smiling lightly at V. "How is Nick doing?"
"He is doing as well as he can, what with a broken leg and arm, he'll recover in about six or seven weeks." V Smiled as she thought of Nick.
"I bet you're helping him through it..." She giggled softly. "Hey…speaking of the Vari... where is John?"
"He offered to make a run for supplies and some food for himself and Nick."
"Ah... since right now he is the only one that can move. Thanks V, for putting up with us."
"It's not putting up with you. I rather have you in my care then see you falling and getting trapped like a turtle on his back."  V snickered softly at that thought with Nick."
"Thanks Mom."  She grinned and laughed softly.
     "Yeah."
"Gah I feel hopeless.  Sad thing is... I've read through the Harry Potter series and the Lord of the Rings series... three times so far..."
"Oh man. That is depressing...especially Harry Potter."
"Well... at least its better than you and Nick listening to me and John... um... cat fight?"
     "Yeah..." V smiled softly.
     "Hey V?"
     "Yes?"
     "Thanks for coming after me."
"It was nothing. I know you would've done the same thing."
     "Of course..."
"Now, focus on getting better. Just imagine, when you're all healed, you get to go through training hell with me."
"Yeah.... how soon after healing??"  A brow rose lightly.
"As soon as you want.  We'll have to be changing the bandages soon."
     "Ah."
"But with yer rapid healing, I'd say you'll be back to yer feet three or even four weeks earlier than Nick."
"Yeah...most of the other wounds are gone... just the one on my hip left... and it's healing fast enough…what with it being half an inch deep."
"You sure do know how to pick yer enemies, I must say."   The front door to the house opened and shut, and rustling of bags was heard. The two vampires would be able to pick up on John's scent.
She laughed softly, then smiled brightly, once again... becoming a child.  "Yay! John's back!"
V stood up.  "I'll go help him and send him in here."
"Danke Mutter."  She grinned innocently at her.
V paused for a moment.  "Bitte."
Angel laughed softly as she pulled a blanket back over her, this time, tucking it under her so that if she rolled off the bed again... the sheets would hopefully catch her!
Before V left, she turned to look at Angel.  "Are you sure you wouldn't like some railing for the bed?"
"I'm sure! No more falling for me!" She moved to the center of the bed away from the edges.
V laughed softly then left. John had gone to the store and stopped by the hospital and meat locker to get the blood that V requested. Among the frozen food and can goods, he had brought Mickey D's back for him and Nick.  "Here, I can put these up. Go feed that brother of yours."
John nodded and left with the doggie bag to the living room.
Angel stared at the door, waiting for John... for some reason.. she was hyper.
After John had finished his burger that he had been working on during the drive, he whipped his hands clean and trotted to the back rooms and paused outside of Angel's room.
"I can smell you John... you and that burger you were having an affair with!" Okay... no more sugar laced blood for Angel.
"Burgers have always been my weakness." He looked sheepish as he walked in and closed the door and took a seat by her.
Angel pulled him closer and planted a big kiss on his lips.
He returned it, placing his hands on either side of her, careful not to hurt her side.
     "Mmmm beefy.." She giggled softly.
He looked at her and had a cute, confused look on his face. "You sound drunk."
"Hyper... that last batch of blood I'm sure had sugar in it." She kissed him softly again. "And you look cute like that."
"Ahhh...I see..." He grinned.  "Glad someone thinks so."
Angel kissed him again, a sweet smile on her lips.  "So... did you bring me anything while you were out?" She smiled innocently.
"Actually, as a matter of fact...close your eyes."
Angel smiled and did so, when she did he put out a large cube box. It was pearly with blue string. "Okay. Open 'em."
She opened her eyes and looked down at the box in her hands, wondering what was in it. "Can I open it?"
     "Yeah, go ahead."
She smiled as she set the box in her lap and started to open it, interested in finding out what was in it.
Inside was a glass marble of a panther with what appeared to be a warrioress. At the bottom was a music crank to play music.
Angel smiled as she lifted it from the box, and turned it upside down and back, watching the white flakes float about in the globe.  "Thank you babe...I love it!"
"It's not much...but I was drawn to it."
She set it carefully back in the box before leaning over and planting a kiss upon his lips.  "You're sweet."
     He smirked slightly.  "I try."
Angel wrinkled her nose again. "You smell like greasy hamburgers..."
     "I was hungry."
     "I know."
     "How are ya feeling?"
"Better... almost all of my wounds are healed.. save for the one on my hip. You?"
"Better than you, I guess." Smiles shyly.
She carefully set the box with the snow globe onto one of the bedside tables before gently pulling John onto the bed with her, a smile on her lips.
He wrapped his arm around her carefully and rested against her.
She held him close, smiling at his warmth.
"We need a vacation when you heal."
     "Mmmm.. that sounds nice."
He looked down at her then maneuvered a bit so he could massage her shoulders.
"Mmmmm... that feels good."  She closed her eyes, smiling softly.
"So...this...Talos thing is really finished, right?"
"I hope so... V broke his neck after I shoved a rusted sword through his gut."
     He nodded softly.
Angel rested against John as he lay on the bed.  She smiled softly, enjoying his warmth, the warmth she missed.
"I love you," he whispered softly, kissing the top of her head.
"I love you too." She kissed his cheek, smiling at him gently.
"So what do you think? Hawaii for our vacation or somewhere more exotic?"
"Hawaii is too sunny for me."
He looked at her. "Maybe Ireland, then? Show me around."
She smiled softly.  "Maybe.  How about Florida?"
     "Florida…mmm...I won't argue with you."
     "Tampa... possibly?"
"I don't see why not. What's in Tampa?"
"I don't know. Some place along the coast down there... nice and warm...the beach."
"I wish New York had more nicer aspects. Angel...would you ever wanna move away?  To somewhere...safer, nicer?"
"If you felt like it." She looked away a moment.
     "But would you want to?"
     "Sure..."
     "Positive?"
"Yes, as long as I could still keep in contact with V. What's with the questions, John?"
"Oh sure, you could."  He looked away. "Nothing, really. I just don't wanna separate you from V or anyone else."
A hand rose to move John's face to look at her. "There is something you aren't telling me."
     "There isn't anything that I'm keeping back. I just...really love you and wanna start, I don't know...anew."
She smiled softly, fine.. she wouldn't push the matter. "You want to escape from this life... that seems to follow me and Va'Shanna around."
"We can always try to avoid it, run from it."
"John, for me.. there is no escape from it, it will follow me where ever I may be."
     "Doesn't mean we can't try."
"To run would be cowardly, John. Am I that?"
"No.  But if you continue to try to face it...it'll kill you."
"Only if you seek it out."  She kissed him softly to silence him from further debate. John kinda had a Han Solo look on his face before he returned the kiss and smiled slightly.
"Now... not... another... word..." She smiled playfully as she kissed him again, but a bit deeper.
He had no problem with that as he returned it in full.
Hands very gently roamed over his upper body as she kissed him.
He lightly traced his fingers along her good side.
She smiled softly as she whispered, "Maybe we should just wait on this till I'm better.... and at my place."
"Or maybe not? I'm sure that they invested in some sound proof walls...I hope..."
"Maybe... but it is their house... and my side still hurts." She kissed him softly.
He pouted slightly. "Now you're no fun," he joked, but remained a gentleman.
"Hm... maybe I should cut a chunk out of your side and see how you feel, hm?" She grinned at him, laughing softly.
"Hey now, I like my skin where it is."  He returned the grin and kissed the top of her head.
Angel kissed him again, slipping her arms over his shoulders.
He held her as he thought idly.
     "Thank you John," whispered Angel.
     "For?" questioned John.
"Putting up with me and all the crap that comes with me."
He looked down at her. "It isn't putting up with you, Angel. I love you."
"I love you too, John." She smiled softly up at him.
He took her hand in his hand and grinned down at her. "I know."
She relaxed where she lay, smiling up at him, he made her happy.  He fell silent, lost in thoughts.
"What are you thinking?" she whispered softly to him.
     "You. Us."
She kissed him softly on the cheek.
     "What are you thinking?"
"How happy and relaxed I am with you."
     He smiled a little.
"And how much I love you."
     "I'm glad."
Angel smiled at him. He may've seemed to go red for a moment. She laughed softly. John leaned his back against the pillows and sighed happily. She moved over onto her good side, resting her head and a hand upon his chest gently. "Thump, thump... thump, thump."
     "Hmm?"
     "Your heart."
     "What about it?"
"It's beating." She smiled up at him.
      "You do that to me."
She moved a bit to kiss him softly.
He returned it, his fingers tracing her good side gently. Her form sank closer to him, the kiss deepening some. And then...V walked in on them.
"Crap," she muttered softly, turning her head to the side a bit. "Er...sorry for intruding, but we need to change those bandages...which...I'm sure John would love to do for me...?"
Angel sighed and laughed softly as she moved back onto her back, a hand over her face as she turned a very light pink.
John's face brought new meaning to red as beets.
Angel moved her hand, caught sight of John's crimson face and started laughing.
V moved over slowly and handed the bandages and wrappings to John. "Here you are, you love monkey."
"You're enjoying this too much, you know?" John mentioned.
"Yes, as a matter of fact I do. And I love it." She grinned.
Angel stopped laughing, or tried to, a hand over her side.
"So, you know how to do the wrappings?" John nodded to V's question.  "All right, then I'll leave you two to...um...do whatever."
"Thank you V." Angel smiled a bit.
V nodded and backed out of the room slowly. When the door reshut, Angel and John would hear her break out in laughter. Angel had to laugh some more as she looked to John.
"Does she have some sort of spidey sense to walk in on us like that?"
     "Possibly."
John sighed, his heart pounding as he gently let go of her. "So, how does V do this without hurting you a lot?"
Angel pushed the covers back from her, lifting her shirt some and lower her pj pants enough to get at the wound after she moved t sit on the wedge of the bed. John fumbled his fingers around the dressing, looking for where the medical tape stopped. Finding it, he gently peeled it off and started unwinding the wrapping, then the gauze before he checked to see how the would was doing, then he applied the new stuff. Within ten minutes, she was good as new.
"You did well." She smiled at him as she lay back down.
"I try." He walked away to discard the old bandages and such in the waste bind that was in the room then came back to the bed.
"Well... think about it this way... at least V didn't walk in on us while we were doing anything."
     "Yeah, thank the lord."
She kissed him softly again.  He wrapped his arms around her again. She slipped her arms over his shoulders, her lips pressed to his.  He moved his hands up her back gently.
"Mmm.." She rested quietly on the bed, in his arms.
     "I like the quietness..."
     "Yeah, it's nice."
"It's nice when people aren't trying to kill you every moment of your life, huh?"
"Well... it does give peace and time to recover."
     He nodded.
"For now... lets just relax... and let me recover more." She kissed him softly.
He kissed her back. "I'll agree to that, Miss Liam."
"You're very sweet and charming, Mr. Vari."  A sweet smile on her lips.
