Tremors of the Past

John stretched a little as his eyes rolled open. Angel lay silently in their bed, lying on her right side, the sheets pulled up over her front and then it dropped down sharply down her side, something seemed to show on her left hip, barely peeking out from under the sheet. John sat up a little, rubbing his eyes from sleep and as he scratched the top of his head and moved over to kiss Angel, his hand felt something...odd on her hip.
"Angel?"
"Mmm?" Her eyes slowly opened as she looked over her shoulder sleepily::
His index finger outlined the scar. "Where did this come from?"
"What?" She looked down at her hip before suddenly turning over to lay on her left side to hide it.
"Angel, what is that? I know you heal fast...but scars like that just don't appear. Did I do something?"
"No... it wasn't you."
"Then what?"
"It's nothing..."
"Doesn't look like nothing."
"It's just something from my past, its no big deal."
"Angel, please don't play stupid…"
"It just showed up."
"What does it mean?"
She sat up and looked away before speaking softly. "It's a brand..."
He reached out gently to turn her chin to face him. "What kind of brand? How did...how did it get there?"
She looked down. "A god branded me for death…"
"How long ago was this?"
"A hundred years ago..."
"What does it...it mean?" His finger gently outlined it again. "With it showing up like this all of a sudden?"
"Talos has started looking for me again...or someone has tipped to him that I'm still alive."
"Talos?"
"The god."
"Angel, slow down and *explain* it to me from the beginning. Does Va'Shanna know about this?"
"Not that I know of... though... Talos is pretty powerful... and I'm sure his hate for me had gotten around... "
"How did this start?"
"I killed Talos's son... "
John's face went blank. "How...? Why?"
"At the time... when I didn't care... he pissed me off...tried to rape me.. so I dealt with it the only way I knew how; kill."
"Did he, this...Tilos? Talos? know that his son tried to rape you..?"
"Yes..."
"And he doesn't care?!"
"John, he's a god. A powerful god... of course he didn't care."
John looked uncomfortable and outraged. "I won't let him harm you."
"John... calm down. It's okay."
She smiled at him sweetly, leaning over to gently kiss him.
He caught her wrist gently. "Is it, really? Why did the scar or brand decide to show itself now?" He blushed a little. "I've seen your body well enough with other small scars, but I don't remember *that* one."
She looked directly into his eyes. "John, you have nothing to worry about.  When I start worrying, then you can panic."
"Heh...maybe you should tell V or something? Just in case?"
"All right, I'll tell V later this evening."
He nodded. "Thank you."
She gently kissed him before sliding out of bed, pulling a robe on. John sighed, looking at her. She smiled softly at him as she started to go downstairs. She stopped and turned, looking at him. "Want anything?"
"I'm good. Thanks."
With a smile, she moved to the bed, dropping the robe before crawling onto the bed again, pressing close to him, nuzzling his throat a bit. He wrapped his strong arms around her, trying to ignore his worries for her. She gently kissed his neck, a few times and he felt her fangs grazing over his flesh gently, but never tearing the skin. He shivered a little from the anticipation. More and more her fangs moved over his flesh, every now and then he felt the tips dragging over the skin, not breaking the skin though. He swallowed hard, trying to keep a level head, but failed. Slowly, he felt her climb atop him as she whispered in his ear, "Do you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you…" He looked up at her, similar to a lazy fat cat after it had milk.
"Do you trust me enough to let me... drink from you?"
He still looked up at her with the same expression. "It won't hurt, right?"
"I'll try and make it as painless as I can... and as pleasurable as I can...just tell me where you'd prefer me to drink from…"
He thought it over. "The neck...wrist...and thigh are the most...blood whatever places, right?"
"Yes... they have the most blood... but I can drink from anywhere...depending on how much blood I want..."
"Well then...be my guest." He grinned at her.
She lifted his hand to her mouth, moving his index finger into her mouth as she sat up. She gently sucked on it a bit before a fang gently pierced the middle of the finger, not deep, just a small puncture. He winced slightly, but watched her. She gently sucked on the finger a bit more as the sheets were moved from them. He swallowed hard as his free hand rested on her hip. "Doesn't hurt so bad."
She smiled softly as she let his hand go, there was barely any damage to it except a pin point sized wound. She leaned down to kiss him deeply, a few drops of his blood on her lips. He returned it, exploring her mouth.
Angel smiled down at John as she leaned down, her lips moving to his throat, but not really wanting to leave a showing mark, she moved down to his left arm that could be covered by a t-shirt sleeve. Carefully she sank fangs into the flesh, holding his arm still so he wouldn't move and cause more damage. She was trying to make it as painless as she could, slowly sinking fangs into his skin and tissue, just going deep enough to find a large enough supply of blood before she gently sucked upon the wound. He made a small sound, probably a moan as she fed.
She rested her bare form against his as she gently sucked upon the wound, her tongue gently pressed to the skin beside the wound, causing a bit more blood to surface. John's eyes rolled a bit from the pleasure. As she softly suckled upon the wound, her fangs extracted from the flesh, a hand traveled down his body to his lower region, exploring a bit. He leaned his head back against the pillows, baring his neck to the world. She trailed faint bloody kisses up his chest and neck, licking her lips before she kissed his gently, her hips moving against his. Lazily, his arms wrapped around her loosely as he nibbled on her lip gently before kissing her softly.
She smiled down at him, whispering softly, "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
"Not at all."
She licked the wound on his arm gently, taking up any left over blood before moving off the bed. Purring softly she picked up her robe and slipped it back on.
"Did you...did you see anything in my blood or is that myth stories?
It depends on the vampire, dear. I, myself, never could do it, I can pick up feelings and…thoughts at times." She smiled playfully over her shoulder at him.
"Oh...hmm. Wow."
"And you seemed to enjoy yourself..."
"It was amazing…"
"An interesting feeling... to be feed from... "
He sat up slowly. "Don't push yourself too hard... you really aren't used to having blood missing."
"Whadda mean? I'm doing fine…" He went dizzy for a moment.
"No you aren't. You need to eat."
"Feed..." He leered at her.
"Hm?"
"I could think of a few things to feed on."
"Like what?" She looked at him, a brow raised, hands on hips.
Again, he leered at her, sighing softly, yet contentedly.
"Well, lover boy?"
"C'mere."
She grinned as she walked back to the bed once again.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" John asked, sitting up.
"Of course I will." Angel smiled down at him as she stood by the side of the bed.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her down. She laughed softly as she was pulled back onto the bed.
"So, what should we do tonight? Hmm?"
"What ever you want baby.
He smiled slightly. She smiled softly, as she gently kissed him. He rubbed her back softly as he returned it. She purred softly as she rested against him, her lips had moved down to his throat, placing feather light kisses to his neck. His lips twitched as he took in a deep breath of her scent before nipping gently at her own neck. She tilted her head to the side a bit as he nipped at her, smiling softly. He looked at her briefly and offered a small meow. She smiled at him mischievously as a hand dropped to a certain part of his anatomy, and grabbed gently. John took in a short gasp, and squeak softly, but continued on with nipping at her neck, or licking it.
As he licked/nipped her neck, she kissed his, her hand moving over that external organ gently. He rolled on top of her and kissed her firmly. She smiled as she returned the kiss, her arms moved over his shoulders. He bent his head low, trailing kisses from her throat and downwards slowly. She laid her head back against the pillows, her eyes closed. When he got down to the southern reigns, he came back up slowly, kissing her with cool kisses. She smiled, purring gently. His hands went to work on her northern reigns gently, as he made sure the robe was fully opened again. She purred a bit more, gently biting her lower lip. Kissing her on the lips, his hand motions switched from rough to soft, only to prepare her for more fun. She kissed him a bit deeper, holding him close to her.
"You know…" he murmured between kisses, "I heard that werewolves...actually...shift to their animal forms during sex...interesting...huh?"
She looked up at him, a brow raised at the information; that was just TOO kinky for her.
"Want me to shut up, huh?"
"Please..." She kissed him again.
"Sure." He returned the kiss, deepening it.
Her hips gently rose against his as she returned the ever deepening kiss, soon the two were lost in pleasure yet again...
******

John, not surprisingly, was tuckered out, and was holding Angel close to him as he slept. She smiled softly, gently brushing back a strand of hair from her face, she carefully placed a soft kiss to his cheek. Despite that he continued to sleep on, he did look like he smiled ever so slightly. Angel carefully untangled herself from him and the sheets as she went to the bathroom to take a shower, after she closed the door, she turned on the water.  Alone, fiery eyes glanced down to her hip were the brand was remembering the pain of it, and now knowing she had to be more careful.
She closed her eyes as she remembered how Talos's guards held her down on a table as the dungeon operator came towards her with the sparking, red iron, steaming and smoking. Talos had stood off to the side, grinning in satisfaction, as he would have finally killed her.  The guard with the iron had told the others to hold her still as he had suddenly plunged the iron onto her hip. Angel winced remembering the pain of the hot iron burning her flesh and tissue, bleeding and stinging.
They had bled her for five days, starving her, seeing how long she would last without feeding and with the loss of blood.  The guards had made bets on how long she would last.  Talos occasionally went down to the dungeon to watch her suffer, make offers, to lead his army, to be his slave, all for relief, and because of her pride, she refused.
John opened one eye and reached for angel, and frowned, not finding her.
Angel sank to the floor, wrapping her arms about her knees. Gods…she hadn't thought about this for so long, and now…all the pain she felt, the smells of the dungeon. She wept silently.
"Angel...?" John murmured softly, then rubbed his eyes and pushed himself off the bed and wandered out of the bedroom after slipping on sweatpants to find Angel. He found her in the bathroom.. "Angel? Hon, what's wrong?"
She looked up at him, her light blue eyes were bluer whenever she cried. She wrapped her arms about his neck as she cried on his shoulder before whispering through her sobs. "Just hold me..."
He moved his own arms around her and rubbed her back gently, letting her know he was there for her. He breathed in her scent as he wondered what had made her cry.
"John?" She sniffled a bit, looking up as she rubbed at her eyes.
Mmm-hmm?" He moved his head enough so his eyes were leveled with hers.
"Will you...call V for me? I need to talk to her..."
"If you want, sure. What's going on?"
"I need my mother..." She smiled a little bit
His arms slowly dropped to his sides. "Of course." He smiled at her, letting her know that he took no offense, even though he felt hurt that she didn't feel comfortable talking to him about her problems. "Give me a few seconds and I'll have her on the phone, ok hon? "
"Okay. Don't feel that I don't want to confide in you... I just don't want to put you in danger... and I need to talk to someone who knows of and somewhat about Talos."
"Yeah." He lowered his head a little and walked away to make the call.
She sighed softly as she stood, then moving back into the bedroom and grabbing her robe, pulling it on over her bare form.

Meanwhile, in another part of the New York City area, Va'Shanna looked up at Nick and him holding a phone. She was clad in baggy green cargo pants and a white midriff with sais in her hands.
"Who is it?"
"John, says Angel needs to talk to you."
Angel went back into the bathroom and turned off the shower, emerging again near John, kissing the back of his shoulder gently.
"Really." She sighed, then motioned for the phone. "'lo?"
"Yeah, Va'Shanna? Um...this is John...Angel wanted me to call you."
"About what?" V asked, shifting the phone a bit and dropping the sais.
"Hang on." He passed the phone to Angel.
She smiled a bit at John as she took the phone. "V? I need help..."
"What did you do now?" she asked as she sat down on a mat beside Nick and folded her legs in Indian style.
"It's not what I've recently done... its from the past..."
"Go on..."
"Talos.."
Long silence.
"The Talos?"
"Yes... the brand has shown up again. It can only mean that either he himself is looking for me, or has learned that I'm alive and has sent hunters after me."
She swore softly. "How long ago was this, when the mark appeared?"
"Since earlier this evening...V... the brand is going to act like a beacon."
"I want you or John to look outside of one of your windows carefully, and tell me if you see anything."
Angel turned to John, lowering the phone a bit. "John, look out the larger window from the second floor... and tell me if you see anything."
He nodded and did as she requested. When he came back, he shook his head no. She spoke back into the phone. "No...there isn't anything."
"V... I need this thing removed! Or I could put you, Nick and John in danger!"
"I can handle myself...but the other two, even Nick, I don't know about." V stood up suddenly in a smooth motion, ignoring Nick's look. "How long do you think it'll take both of you to come over?"
"Not very long.  I know my place is safe from pretty much everything, but not Talos. We'll be over soon."
"Be careful, the both of you."
"We will. Bye V."
She hung up the phone, turning to look at John. "We're going to V's..."
"What? It isn't safe...who is this Talos guy?"
"John... I told you... Talos is a god... a powerful one.  It's not safe here. And I need V's help with this... to possibly find a way to remove this thing."
He sighed. "Alright...do we need anything before we head over?"
"Not that I'm aware of... possibly extra clothes. I'll grab a few of my books that deal with Talos and brands…"
He nodded. "Let's hurry up though…"
"Okay..."
John dressed in proper clothes as Angel grabbed what she needed. He waited for her at the door. Angel got dressed quickly, black all around. Black jeans, black tank, black combat boots, and black leather jacket near the front door, tossed some extra clothes into a bag along with several books. She also grabbed her sword and several daggers that were tucked into random places upon her.
"Wow," John whispered. "Gonna kill someone tonight?"
"Gonna keep us safe till we get over to V and Nick's place." She pulled on the leather jacket before lifting the bag onto her shoulder.
"Yay?" John managed before opening the door for her.
She stepped out of the loft carefully, tossing the keys to the door to John, glancing around with hellish yellow eyes. As they made their way to the vehicle, John was always careful and quiet. She climbed into the passenger side of the jeep, bag in the floor board.
"We ready?"
"Yeah... "
John slipped into the driver's seat and after starting the jeep, pulled out into the road. Angel kept a constant gaze about them as John drove the jeep towards V's house. When they were in distance of V's home, they would see her standing outside, dressed in leather pants, a silk Chinese shirt over a leotard. Her hair was pulled back in a long, tight braid that trailed down a little below her waist. Angel smiled and relaxed very little. John pulled up and parked as V walked over to the jeep, and John realized that she was armed, and was sure that she had more weapons in concealed spots.
"Nick's setting up inside...I suggest we join him," V said, sniffing the air.
"I agree." And hopped out of the jeep, bag in hand, pulling the sword free of its sheath in the bag. She waited till John was a head of her and in the house before she herself went inside.
The lights were on low and Nick was loading a few of his pistols, guns, and rifles when the trio came past the threshold. Once inside, Angel sheathed the sword once more, setting the bag by the door. John took a seat on one of the couch's armrests and looked at the others quietly.
"So, any ideas of how to get this damned thing off?"
"Well, this will prove me wrong when I complain about it being too quiet around the city, eh?" V said before looking at Angel. "Where is this…tattoo anyway?"
"Brand." She lifted her shirt a bit and lowered the jeans on her left hip a bit to show it, if anything, it showed itself more than ever.
V moved in a little closer to eye it. "Well, depending on how deeps it runs, I'd...suggest cutting or burning it out."
"No fire please...and no acid. Cutting is probably the best option...It's going to take a good chunk out of my side... but I'll heal... eventually..."
"I can offer you a some blood packets to hurry up the process, and I can try to keep much of the pain away from you during the cutting, if you'd like."
Angel shook her head lightly. "Because of the type of magic used on the brand itself... it will heal as if I'm human. I'll be defenseless for a while, a few weeks at best. The scar tissue can't be more than a quarter of an inch deep."
Va'Shanna nodded softly. "Then we might as well find a place to bunk you up while Talos or his goons, or both, are off your trail..."
"Yeah.  Once the brand is off... get rid of it as soon as possible.  Ship it out to the middle of the ocean for all I care."
"Wanna do this now, I guess?"
"We need to find some kind of spell that will bend or brake the magic around the brand, or it will keep coming back on any new flesh..."
V eyed Angel's book. "Have anything in those?"
"Yeah... the heavier of the three is brands and magics... there should be something in there..."
"Then let's look."
"You look... I'll clean a dagger off..." Angel looked over at John.
"Sterilize it while you're at it," Nick murmured as V flipped through the heaviest book.
Angel nodded softly as she pulled her sharper straight edged dagger from inside her jacket after peeling it off. She then went into the kitchen, digging out a pot and filling it with water. Setting that on the stove to boil. John slid off the sofa's arm and followed Angel. Angel wasn't paying attention as she stared at the water that started to bubble.
"Angel?
She looked up quickly seeing him, she sighed softly. "Yes?"
"You're really gonna go through with this, aren't you?"
  "Yes..."
"There isn't anything I can do, I suppose?"
She move the dagger from it's sheath and slipped the blade into the boiling water to be cleaned. "Stay with me..."
"Of course." He moved closer to her and sighed
She leaned against him gently as she kept the blade in the boiling water. He looked down at her . wordlessly. "Are you sure everything will be all right with it...off?"
"Yes... it should be." She let go of the dagger to let it stay in the boiling water.  Light blue eyes looked up at him.
"What if it isn't?"
"Then we'll keep trying."
He frowned slightly. "I don't know if I like this, Angel."
Whether you like it or not... it needs to be done." She looked down, turning back to the pot with the dagger.  When her hand grabbed the hilt, her hand steamed from the hot metal. Her jaw set as she pulled the blade out, holding it up a bit to the light, her reflection showing on the blade. He winced inwardly, knowing it had to hurt.
"I love you John...and I'll be damned if I put you in danger."
She walked past him and towards Nick and V, steaming blade in hand. Nick grimaced at the steam rising from her hand, but led her back to a backroom quietly. Angel carried the cleaned blade as she followed, keeping a steady gaze ahead of her.:
"Err, the table's a little cold, being metal and all, but V doesn't want you getting any blood into the carpet or wooden floors..." Nick said softly.
"It's fine. Thank you." She sighed softly, not really knowing if she was prepared for this.
Nick followed her movements with his eyes. "V did want me to suggest something for you, to take away particle pain...interested?"
"Sure…I've had enough pain from this thing already."
Nick smiled a little. "Well, hope you trust me with a blade, then."
"Like a father…" She smiled a bit at him as she then handed the cooled dagger to him.
"Great. "He shook his head at her. "You might get a cookie from this." He turned serious. V...wants to take as much pain from you, as she can...which means something about that, you being her kid, or whatever that other term is, she can do a mind thing, putting you in like a coma state while it's being done. She said it's harmless."
"Chylder. Yes... her mental abilities far pass mine, I trust both of you." Angel sighed softly once more. "Just make sure John is okay..."
"Of course, I will." He turned toward the door where V and even John were.
She nodded softly to V. "How long do you think it will take?"
V examined the brand again. "Shouldn't take more than two hours max.…" V tossed her a towel. "You might wanna change out of your pants, unless you want them ruined."
She caught the towel. "Thanks. Bathroom?"
"Upstairs, take a left after you get off the stairs. It's the middle one between a ship painting."
"Thanks."
She went upstairs and to the bathroom to change from the leather pants to the towel, which she wrapped securely about her waist. John was looking uncomfortable as he waited, leaning against a wall, Nick tried to reassure him that everything was going to be okay, but Nick knew better than to believe John's quick nods.
"Well, security's up and running, so we should be set," V announced, looking at Angel when she re-entered.
Angel smiled some as she tossed her leather pants to John, before moving towards V. V shook her head silently as she moved to the head of the table. Angel walked silently to the table, then pulling herself up onto it, feeling the cold metal against her flesh.:
"V... why do I get the feeling like this is WW2.... concentration camps?"
"It isn't, the ones they used in concentration camps were worse, believe me." V smiled at Angel, patting her shoulder in comfort.
"True." She smiled back at her sire, her mother.
V looked over at John. "John," she spoke his name with a slight Irish accent, "You do not have to stay for this, unless you want to, you do understand, right?"
He nodded a little, but didn't walk out. Instead, he stayed.
V nodded at Nick a little, then looked back down at Angel. "You ready, kiddo?"
"Yeah..."
Remember...the magic has to be broken or bent first...before you start cutting..."
"Nick, you know what to do, right?" At his nod, she looked back down at Angel again. "Oh, yeah, I'm still working on that. Which reminds me…"
V strayed outside the room and came back in with some herbs and the thick text book of Angel's along with a smaller and skinner book which was part of V's collection. Angel looked at the things V had brought in, then glanced over at John.
"According to this...this should work on bending it...John, I'm gonna need your help, just hold this book up and keep it on this page, alright? "
"Well…we'll find out if it works or not." Angel laughed a little as she closed her eyes.
John came over reluctantly and did as he was requested. V applied something powered that smell of lilacs around the brand, and then something slightly cold, and again with the powdery contents. She glanced back at the book John was holding as she grabbed the bag of herbs. Angel sighed softly as she tried to relax: V started to recite a chant in old Latin text as she decorated the brand with a few herbs. As she did this, her eyes were set on the brand intently. Angel winced some as it started to burn slightly. A rough translation for what V is speaking.
"With this power, here do I brake the symbols for what they stand for; I call upon these forces to allow me entrance into what this cursed god has blocked off centuries ago."
Angel winced more as the brand burned a bit, reversing in its stages to its first appearance so many years ago... the fresh burn into flesh, the sizzling skin, the bleeding. She tried to keep a scream of pain in, dear gods it hurt! With the pain her vampiric nature was brought out, fangs showing, and eyes, when open... their ever hellish yellow. V watched Angel carefully as she continued with the chanting. Nick moved up closer, awaiting for his part in all this to fall through.
"Some one cut the damned thing off!" roared Angel from pain, she already went through the pain of the thing being burnt into her; she didn't need to go through it again.
At V's nod, Nick stepped up next to the table as V moved towards the head of it and put her hands on Angel's forehead and dived into her protégé's mind to ease the pain as Nick went to work. As Va'Shanna hid the pain from her, Angel's form relaxed, almost to a sleeping state. John watched in horror as Nick silently cut Angel's flesh with the brand carefully. He swallowed hard, seeing blood, Angel's blood ooze out from her hip. As Angel had guessed, the brand was a little less than half an inch deep, a good chunk from her hip.  She lay there upon the table motionless, an arm hanging off the edge of the table. By the time Nick finished, his hands were well coated with Angel's blood, as well as the table. He asked John to get him a glass jar, and John did, more than happy to leave the blood scene even if it was just for a second or two. Nick put the flesh with the brand in the jar, then washed his hands and started to patch up Angel's hip with gauze and medical tape.
"John? John I need...oh, never mind..." he said, seeing his brother toss his cookies.
Nick grimaced then wrapped a bandage around angel's waist to keep the gauze and such secure and in place. V slowly, ten minutes after Angel was cleaned up, recoiled out of Angel's mind and her eyes opened. V blinked a little, feeling dizzy, but it quickly wore off. She looked down at her daughter's face, then at the other two, nodding at Nick, letting him know he had done well. Angel slowly woke, wincing some when she tried to move, and opted to just lie there for a while. Blue eyes looked around her at the others before asking softly. "Is it off?"
"Yeah," Nick assured her. "I was just going to take care of it right now...any special way you want me to dispose of it, since it is your...um...gift?"
"Don't care... just get rid of it…please…How much blood did I lose?"
As Nick picked the jar up and went towards the door, V asked. "Is it still a homing beacon, even off of yer body?"
"Yes...until it's either destroyed or the flesh dies around it."
V looked at her. "Much. You'll need to feed, and the best I have isn't living human, but hospital blood packages, will that do?"
"Yeah... those are fine."
She looked at Nick. "Be careful while you're out. I'll come looking for you if you're not back within the hour."
Nick saluted to V and left.
"Your husband is crazy...where's John?"
Shaking her head, she looked down at her once more. "I know he is. Um...in the corner losing his breakfast and lunch…"
"He never had breakfast or lunch...not that I'm aware of..."
"Well, he's tossing whatever was in that stomach of his."
She wrinkled her nose as the putrid smell reached her:: Ew...
"Yeah... let's get you out of here and onto the couch and I'll come back and check on him?"
"Agreed…" She carefully tried to sit up... wincing as muscles strained. "Let's not do that again…" Angel spoke through clamped teeth.
"Here, let me help." V helped her sit up. "Wanna walk it or me carry you?" her voice dropped low. "I would have John carry you out, but I'm afraid he might vomit on you."
"Yeah... I think I can walk... but should I chance it with a fresh wound?"
"No…we have enough stubborn people around this house as it is."
With a low sigh, V gently picked Angel up and started out the door. Over her shoulder, she called to John, "I'm going to set her up in the living room, I'll check back on you in a few minutes, all right?"
John just nodded as V walked out of the room.
Angel was actually sorta liking this. "Thanks mommy!"
When she started to laugh some, she stopped short as it hurt!
"Ughh...Angel." V was tempted to just dump Angel on the sofa, but thought better of it and made her as comfortable as possible. "Hang on; let me get some blood for you."
"Thank you."
V disappeared into the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later, a pitcher of blood and a glass. "I warmed it up a little for you, thought it'd be a little better then icy cold." She poured her a glass of the liquid and gave it to her.
"Thanks, V." She smiled as she took the glass, taking a sip from it. Then she relaxed, trying to heal.
"Yep. Need anything else before I go check on the sick panther?"
"No, I'm good. I hope he hasn't ruined your floor or anything."
"I think it's too late for my floor." V sighed. "All right then, I'll check back in a few…" She stood up and went back into the room where John was left.
Angel smiled softly thinking about poor John, the only one out of the bunch who couldn't stand the sight of blood. Speaking of blood, she lifted the glass to her lips, taking a few more sips of the blood. It took ten minutes before V talked John out of holding onto the walls for dear life and to step out of his own vomit. She told him to wash himself up as she went back into the living room and looked at Angel.
"Did you guys bring an extra set of clothes, or at least pants for the cat?"
"The bags are by the door, his is the one that's not the black duffel with a sword sticking out of it. How's he doing?"
"Heh, thanks." V knelt down beside a bag as she said. "Well, he's not pale, but red now. Embarrassed for the floor, so I think that's an improvement, wouldn't you say?"
"Yeah…poor thing. I'll gladly pay for the floor if it needs to be replaced.
"No, no. I have enough money. I can quite understand his sickness. Seeing your beloved being cut open really isn't easy. He's braver than most I've present with."
She smiled softly. "He'll be okay though, right?"
"Oh yeah. Next thing you know, he'll be out being a teddy bear...er...well, in his case," V looked at Angel as her eyes twinkle, "curling and purring up next to you."
She smiled and started to laugh, then winced some as she held her side. V disappeared upstairs and knocked on the bathroom door. John opened the door enough to receive his pants and muttered thanks before shutting the door. Shaking her head, V came back down stairs and yawned.
"Thank you again, V. I really appreciate it."
"It's nothing. That's what mothers and friends are for, are they not?"
"Yeah..." She smiled at her.
V smiled back as her eyes dropped to look at her watchface. It's been almost forty-five minutes now...and he's still not back." she whispered to herself, although to Angel's ears, it was as if V was speaking normally.
Her smile vanished. "Gods...  I hope he is okay."
V shook her head. "I'm sure he is. Nick is a strong willed guy." She stood up and walked over to her phone and called Nick's cell. She frowned as it continued to ring before his voicemail picked it up. She left a message for Nick to call her back before she hung up.
"No answer?"
No." V swallowed hard as her eyes hardened a little, her features set carefully. "He's probably on his way back."
"I'm sure..." Angel looked away, already blaming herself if Nick was hurt.
John's footsteps broke the silence that descended. He had freshen up and looked his normal human colour.
"How are you?" he asked Angel quietly, carefully sitting down beside her.
She looked up at him, smiling slightly. "I'm fine... are you okay?"
"Now I am," he admitted with a small smile as something hit the front door loudly.
Angel looked up towards the door quickly, a brow raised. She started to get up but failed and leaned back. V rushed towards the door and opened it only to find an arrow with a piece of paper stuck through it. She glanced around, but saw nor smelt anything or one. She picked up the arrow and came back inside, closing the door. She leaned against a wall, her eyes narrowing as she smelt blood with the paper.
The paper held upon words written in blood, human blood.
I know you have the girl, I know you are helping the girl.  You want your companion back, we make a trade.  The mortal man for the girl, Angel.  You have four hours to decide, or the man dies, and we take the girl by force.
It was stamped with the seal of Talos himself.
V closed her eyes as a finger outline part of the blood and she tasted just a bit, and she knew whose blood it belonged to. "Son of a mother..." V bit her tongue.
"What?" Angel looked up at V, concerned; she too could smell the blood.
V closed her eyes as she said. "I'll give you four guesses what happened to him and the first three don't count."
"Oh god…What are the terms?"
"Four hours to decide if I want to trade you for Nick. If I don't, he dies and they'll take you by force." V wasn't facing Angel. "I lose one, or both of you."
"They won't kill me for a while... you'll have at least a week to think of something... or I'll find some way out…"
"A week?" V shook her head. "I can't chance it. I may've never faced this Talos in person...but I'm sure like everyone else they'll love to torture you. And what if he's already dead? No…he's not dead. Just hurt." V's eyes hardened. She knew if Nick was really dead, she would've felt it.
"V...please. Just trade me. So I'll lose blood... I'll live. I've already gone through it. I can do it again. As long as Nick gets home.... that's all that matters."
"And what if you don't? What if Talos does something where you're beyond our help?"
"I'll take the chance."
"But I won't." V started to pace back and forth. "There's gotta be another way..."
"Va'Shanna..." An Irish accent filtered through. "Mother... let me do this for you.  Nick is the closest thing to a father I have. I don't want to put him in anymore danger, not when I know there is a chance to save him.  You two have done so much for me…just trade me."
"And what of him?" She nodded to John who was looking sick again.
"I will find my way back again.... I promise."
"I won't this bastard of a god win. I've dealt with too many in my time, god damnit."
"Then what do you suggest? We have four hours to think of something." Then a thought occurred to her. "... V... how fast and how many werewolves can you get together?"
V looked at Angel. "Quite a large pack, if I contact the right people. They owe me quite a few favours."
"How large?"
"Any where from fifty to maybe a hundred? Kyle has a large pack with Liz here in New York. I know another pack in the Bronx. In the Bronx, that alone would amount at least a hundred, with their mates recently rescued from a lab...what are you thinking?"
"I think we might be able to pull off something.  Its crazy... and it might not work but...its worth a shot. An army of weres."
V's eyes slid over to John. "Just werewolves, or...all weres?"
"Any and all...To the core... weres have a sense of loyalty.  They all travel in packs.  Wolves, panthers, anything."
"I could perhaps pull a few strings with the were-leopards, but they are a scarce group..." V nodded, smiling a little. "I like your thinking, my daughter."
"If you can get the leopards...get them to find the panthers in this area. After all...panthers are leopards, just black."
"If you're going to go through with this...I want to be part of it," John spoke suddenly, making them both look at him.
"No. Nick wouldn't want your blood spilled over trying to rescue him," V told him, shaking her head.
John stood. "I want to fight with my...own kind. I am a were now. I can help." He looked to Angel for help.
"John..." Angel looked down; she didn't know what to say.
"Let me prove myself. This is my brother!"
She looked up at him. "I don't want to lose you..."
"And he is my husband," V said harshly, then soften up, hating how she sounded. "John you are still new to all this."
John glared at V as she moved over beside him. "Break my arm, John," V told him.
"What?"
"Try to break it. Now."
"Va'Shanna!" Angel hissed.
"No! He must learn. If he cannot break my arm, there is no way for him to go up against Talos. I am strong, but Talos is a thousand times by age and strength." Her eyes flashed.  "Do not hesitate! Why do you hesitate? Talos will most likely use anything and everyone against you."
John shook his head, backing down. He wouldn't hurt his brother's wife, no matter what she was. V looked at him and reached out to touch his shoulder. "And that is what makes you weak. You're still innocent and human. You are something I've lost a long time ago, and it will take animals to bring down this evil." She looked at Angel.
"Va'Shanna... he won't learn by breaking your arm...he doesn't hate you.  He knows you. Panthers are protective of their kind.  He'll be safe…if the panthers come together."
"You think he's ready to go up against something like this?" V sized John up with her eyes. "He is a mere child in a world like this."
"I know...first things first....call the wolves and leopards.."
V stared John in the eyes for a long time before nodding. "You're right."
/Angel, have a talk with him. Nick will never forgive anyone or me if we allow John to fight and he dies. This is dangerous ground you're playing with,/ V sent as she backed out of the living room and used the phone in the kitchen.
John looked at Angel.
"John..."
"Don't exclude me from this, please. He's my brother, my protector...I gotta pay him back."
"And what if you die?"
"I won't."
"You don't know if you will or not...John... I don't want to lose you in this."
"How can you be sure that you will walk back from this? Or even Va'Shanna herself? We all gotta take risks."
"Because we have been through this before... we have learned to take care of ourselves... over centuries..."
"And what if this doesn't work? What if everyone's slain, my brother included. Who will I have?"
"John…to this world of evil…you are just a baby to it..."
"It is God's will who lives or dies, and if he deems I am to die, then I will. If I am to live, he will grant me protection."
"You honestly think Nick will go for that reason?"
John looked down. "I could lose both of you tonight. The woman I love and my brother."
She lifted his chin up as she leaned over gently, pressing her lips to his softly.  He returned the kiss, closing his eyes briefly. "If you are really gonna cut me out of this, promise to come back to me..."
"I promise...you can help... if you are willing to stray far away from your priesty tendencies..."
"What do you mean?"
"Spells..."
"Spells?" he swallowed hard.
"Protective spells... balancing spells... everything in our favor..."
"I don't...know...I've only had practices in exorcism."
"That's fine…babe…listen to me... I have faith in you... I trust you with my life."
He smiled at her. "I'll help in anyway I can."
She motioned for him to come closer to kiss her. He did so, moving his arms carefully around her waist and rubbing her back gently. "I love you."
"I love you too..." She kissed him softly.
V came back out from the kitchen and stopped in her tracks, seeing them smooching. She waited five minutes, then cleared her throat loudly. Angel smiled as she looked up at V after she broke the kiss with John.
"Well, I've made the arrangements. Kyle and his pack should be here within the hour. I'm still talking to Connor's back in the Bronx. He's supposed to call back in ten."
"And the leopards?"
"Couldn't get a hold of any of them, though Kyle is working on it...so I suppose we'll see within an hour, won't we?"
"Yeah... which will leave us with three hours left. I think while that hour is going by...we teach John spells. He's going to stay here...and do spells for us."
V arched an eyebrow. "Are you certain this is...wise?"
"What do you mean?"
"John has never done much less cast any spells before."
"Yes, but as you know... we have the simple spells of protections…and those are a lot easier to cast... take less energy... and work."
"Isn't it against his religious values?"
She looked at John, his answer.
"Yes, but as we all know...I am no longer a Priest since my unfortunate change." That caused V's mouth to drop open before she recovered. "And...well...this is Nick and Angel we're talking about. I'll do anything for them."
She smiled at him, kissing his neck gently.
V thought it over. "I don't like this. Just don't get yourself killed."
Angel started to hug John, then winced as she had rolled onto her hurt hip, with that, she quickly rolled back onto her back.  :John frowned a little. "Take it easy, hon."
V fell quiet. "I'll be back soon. I need to change."
"Yeah... I'm just not used to having a wound this long..."
John nodded and watched her retreat back to her room before returning his attention to Angel. "There's always a first time, eh?"
"Yeah...there is always a first time.  Like a Priest falling for a vampire?"
He smiled gently. "Yeah."
"Okay... what kind of languages do you know?"
"Only Latin that I learned in school and college. Partial Roman texts...but not much."
"How good are you with Latin?"
"Manageable, I suppose."
"The other book in my bag... get it please?"
"Sure." He moved off the sofa to go get it. When he had it, he came back and sat down carefully.
"Thank you." She took the book and setting it on her lap gently, she flipped through the pages, looking for a certain one.  After finding what she was looking for, she handed the book to him. "Can you read this?"
He scanned the text over. "Most of it."
"Most of it?"
"Some of this is mixed in Old Latin."
She sighed some as she took the book back, flipping through to another page, then handing it back to him. "This?"
Again he looked it over and after a few moments, nodded, and said, "Now this I can read."
"Okay. Then that's one of the things you will do."
Angel took the book, and taking a piece of paper from the front of it, tore a strip off and slipped it into the book, in front of the spell that he could read. "Find another."
"Another of what?"
"Find another spell that you can read...and tell me what it is."
"Related to protection, I assume?" He took the book from her and began searching. After a while, he stopped at a page and looked at her. "How about this one?"
"You tell me...
"I don't know which protection spells will or wont work for this...sort of thing."
"Use your heart, love. The ones that feel like they will work... those are the ones that will. You have doubt about something... it won't work."
He wrinkled his nose a little, feeling unsure of himself as he bookmarked the page and searched for another. She relaxed into the couch, closing her eyes. As silence descended in the living room, a sudden loud pounding at the door quickly broke the stillness. Va'Shanna had emerged from her bedroom now dressed in basically a black, form fitting, sleeveless polyester catsuit with two holes to bare her pelvic bond and a chain like belt connected to the holes, knee high boots with low, thick heels. Her hair had been pulled back in a tight plait which she had twisted into a bun to keep it off her shoulders.
"Mm, our guests must be here." V looked at Angel and John. "You two ready for this?"
"Sure...just make sure you guests don't attack John." She smiled softly. "John…keep looking."
He nodded as V opened the door to a scruffy looking man in biker attire. "Part of Kyle's crew?"
The man nodded and V let the herd in. "Don't touch anything," she warned.
Angel only then became aware that... well... she had no pants on! Just a blanket covered her lower half. "Hey V..."
>I need pants.......<
V looked back at her.>You...oh my.<
>John will carry me upstairs... with my bag... and I'll get some pants on before coming back down.<
>Yes...that would, um, be good.<
"John... will you get my bag by the door…and…help me upstairs please?" Angel's fiery eyes looked to the other men, a brow raising gently.
"Yeah." He grabbed her duffel bag and slung it over his shoulder and picked Angel up gingerly. Either way if the weres had a good sense of smell, they'd smell John's catness and her blood.
"Thank you..."  She held to him as she was carried with blankets upstairs.
As they disappeared upstairs, V was closing her door as the last of the werewolves piled in.
"Where's Kyle?"
"Negotiating with kitty cats," one answered.
"Very well. I'll debrief you all in a minute." Va'Shanna watched them all carefully, noticing their sniffing and looks upstairs.
Angel was glad to get upstairs; normally she wouldn't have been embarrassed to walk around strangers with just a shirt and undergarments on, but now she was. Once upstairs, she would have rummaged through her bag looking for something to wear that she could wear to fight and yet wouldn't kill her side. She settled for a pair of black stretch pants that clung to her legs but the elastic about the waist was gone so it was a bit looser.
John turned away to allow her privacy and looked out through the crack of the door he left open and listened in on what V and the werewolves were saying. "Why do they sound like they hate me?"
"They are dogs, John.  You're a cat."
"But we're all weres."
She finally got the pants on and so with black pants and white tank she slowly stood unsteadily.
"Cats and dogs don't normally mix. Weres or not."
John frowned and looked back at her. She limped towards the door, tossing her bag to him. "Let's go downstairs…"
"Alright... need help or can you make it on your own?" he asked, catching the bag easily and slinging over his shoulder again.
"I need to see if I can walk first... stay close... okay?"
"Sure."
And slowly she walked to the door, and with a grip on the railing of the stairs she slowly made her way down, staying on her right leg to take as much as she could off her left side. John followed behind her. Angel slowly came into view on the stairs with John close behind her.  The voices downstairs seemed to have quieted down a little and many pairs of eyes heaved on Angel and John.
>Boy... don't I feel like the center of attention,< A brow rose as she sent to V.
>They won't do any harm to either of you, I've already spoke to them,< V replied as she slipped daggers and knives into concealment and her sais were easily seen at either side of her waist.
>Glad to know.< Angel slowly made her way from the staircase to the couch again, laying down once more.
>They want you to explain who and what Talos is, since he seems to be your 'friend' and not mine<
>Thanks.< "Any questions? If it's not asked... it won't get answered."
"Who and what is this...Talos? What does he want with the mortal man and you, vampire?" a deep voice questioned.
"Call me Angel. Talos...well...he is a god."
"And?"
"He wants me because he wants me dead…after I killed his son over hundred years ago.  Nick is just a thing to be traded for me."
"How do you expect us to fight a war like dis with a God, Angel? Huh?" another voice broke in. "We're only wolves and still human. What part do we play in this?"
"Not just you. Hopefully with an army of Weres. Talos rules with the strength of his army.  His demons if you will.  Easily killed. But it is your choice to fight or not. I'm simply asking for help. Help to save Va'Shanna's husband."
"Army of weres? You're dumber than you look! There's no way you can get us all to join as one, not by a long shot. There's more weres besides us, and things like the cats and against a God's demons?!"
"Shut up Marckus," the deep voice growled as he pushed himself into view. "Once his army is destroyed, how is he himself destroyed?"
"He rules through his army. When they are gone... or shown that a force... more powerful then them is presented, they will disperse. Talos's power comes from how many lives he controls... the more that are lost... or the more that change their loyalty, the weaker he is, till he is no better than a mortal."
"Once the army is gone, he's gone or temporarily weaken?" He paused. "No better than a mortal, you say? So he could be killed then...right?"
"In theory yes. I killed his son... there fore... he can be killed as well."
"Are there any more of his line that would seek vengeance for his death?"
"No."
Silence hung in the balance. Angel looked to V and John.
V cleared her throat. "Currently at this time the location of Nick and the god are unknown. We have three hours left, at the maximum to go through with this or not. If you do not want to fight, I understand, and I'd like those who will NOT fight, to leave now."
V looked around at the still bodies.  "Good...I thank you all. When Kyle gets back, we'll start planning for how this will be carried out."
>John... can you get me a glass of blood... please?< Angel sent to John.
A few of the weres heads nodded at V's statement.
John looked surprised at Angel when he heard her inside his head. >How did you do that?<
>Vampires are telepathic. Most are anyway.<
>Oh...wow...< He poured her a glass of the red liquid and handed it to her, making sure she had a hold on it before letting go.
"Thank you." She smiled as she took the glass, lifting it to her lips, taking a drink of it. If she was to fight she needed all the strength she could get.
A knock sounded at the door and V answered it. Soon after a man that was six-foot-one walked through the room with unruling curly brown/blonde hair, emerald eyes, with a five o'clock shadow.
Angel looked up at the man, a brow raised lightly.
V looked at Angel. "Angel, John, meet Kyle Locke, the Ulfric of the Ferikorov."
Angel smiled and nodded to Kyle. "Hi."
Kyle waved at them, trying to seem down to earth. "Howdy." Kyle looked at Angel. "Wow. Your name...does appeal rightly to you, if I may say so."
Angel had to blush some as she smiled. "Thank you."  >Charming,< she sent to V.
>Yeah...Nick never seems to think so, for some reason...< V grinned before her business features took over.
Kyle looked around. "Do we have a plan yet?"
"Just waiting for you and...hopefully...the other weres..."
"Ah, uh, yeah, they're making their way up." Kyle scratched the top of his head a bit. "I found the leopards along with Connor's pack. They're having...nice talks outside."
"As long as they aren't killing each other."
"They aren't, not yet, anyway." He shook his head. "I really don't like this, V. I don't trust Connor. He's never one to help anyone but himself."
"Who's Connor?" Angel asked.
"The other werewolf Alpha with the Bronx. He, like my pack, are the top three groundshakers in the state of New York. He betrayed us all." Kyle's eyes seemed to overshadow for a moment. "Only for a vampire, would I do this for."
"Oh."
She looked down a moment, then as she brushed back a few golden strands from her face, she lifted the glass of blood to her lips, drinking some from it. The front door was pushed opened and at least twelve females were mangled in with the new were crowd. Fiery light blue eyes looked over the rim of the glass at the newcomers; the glass's contents were drained. Least to say, the living room was getting very crowded. With the more wolves in the room, Angel gently pulled John closer to her.
A tall black man emerged himself from the crowd and to where V, Angel, Kyle, and John were. He had long dred locks and wore red sunglasses with deep chocolate eyes looked out from. "Connor Slith, at your service." He cocked his head at Angel and John. "I smell kitty cats."
Angel narrowed her eyes some.
Connor looked over at V. "And who are you?"
"Someone who might stop you from having children in the future." V smiled brightly
Connor frowned, falling quiet as V looked around. "All right, is everyone accounted for now?"
A few nods. Angel started to sit up some and winced as she did so.
"Leopards?"
Silence.
"Great. I want all weres that are NOT wolves, to come up here now," V demanded.
There was a long silence before a young girl in her late teens moved up, and two men followed her. Angel looked at the three, praying this was not the only ones that weren't wolves. Slowly, when they gained confidence, there were at least a good dozen of leopards and two were-tigers.
"Any panthers?" Angel questioned.
Again, silence. The young girl tapped Angel's shoulder and pointed out four that were still hiding in the crowd.  She smiled at the girl, then looked up at the four, motioning for them to come forward. Reluctantly, they came forward, heads lowered.
"Anymore?"
More silence.
Angel paused, then said, "Okay... new people...any questions?"
"What's the plan?"
"Trade me for Nick... and once Nick is back here safely, attack Talos's army. Unless...someone can come up with a better one.
Silence, then, "If we do that...how do we know where they're going?"
Angel looked down before pushing down the side of the pants and the bandage over her hip, dipping a nail into the pooling blood, then after covering the wound again, she lifted the nail up. Turning it upside down so that the bead of blood soon dropped from the nail, it vanished.
Kyle arched an eyebrow. "Ow?"
"Follow the blood. My blood was contaminated by his world... it can be stabilized into a portal to were Talos is. Anyone in his service has the same thing with their blood."
"What blood? It…poofed." Kyle frowned, feeling confused.
"I'll provide some before the trade."
He nodded slowly. "Do we stay here when he contacts you again?"
"Until Nick is back here safely... don't do anything."
Again, Kyle nodded. "Good enough for me, but in the mean time...since we have a few hours left...we should start thinking on plans and rescues."
"Anyone good at spells or at least foreign languages?" Angel asked.
"Brian over there is and Amy there," Kyle said, motioning him forward and looking at the young girl.
"Then they can stay and help John keep up protections for us when we attack."
"Okay." Kyle looked over at the unusually quiet Va'Shanna. "You okay over there?"
"Huh? Yeah. Just listening."
Angel looked at V, head tilted to the side.>V... are you okay?<
>Yeah.< She looked at her watch.
"Now what?" John asked.
"We wait for their contact," V answered.
"And you get to help me recover fast…" She grabbed John's arm as she started to stand, wincing. John moved another arm around her for support.
>V? Got a training room or something?<
>Yeah, upstairs. Opposite direction of the bathroom. Look for the tall wooden doors.<
>Thanks.<
"Upstairs again…" she told John, slowly making her way through the masses and towards the stairs again. All the weres were quiet and watchful as John assisted her upstairs. After they were out of sight of the others, Angel sighed heavily and leaned more on him, looking for the doors.
"Where are we going?" John asked in a low whisper.
"Training room."
"She has one?...of course she does. It's V."
"Shut up and help me.   Remember some of the self-defense I taught you...?
"Yeah."
"Good..."
In here…" She motioned to the wooden door. He opened a door for her::
"Thank you." Angel gently moved away from him to walk some.
"What are you planning on doing?"
"Get myself back up to fighting pace... so I don't wind up dead..."
John looked around and blinked at all the weaponry and obstacle stations. He let out a low whistle. "What is V? A bootcamp instructor or does she just get bored? "
"She likes to stay in shape."
"Hmmm... well... I don't want you reopening your side."
"It's already open... and its going to bleed... and I'm going to bleed more when this starts."
"I don't like this..."
She looked over at him as she started to stretch carefully.
"Wish there was another way to avoid all this crap."
"There isn't... unless you have an idea."
"I'm still working on it."
"Ah."
John looked at all of the weights, the fencing blades and other swords, the mats. Angel closed her eyes as she slowly started to go through stretches, warm-ups.  He sat down on a bench and watched Angel. She fell a few times, a hand over her hip as she grimaced in pain, slowly climbing to her feet to start over again. John cheered her on quietly After a while, Angel was able to move without falling, to balance, and gradually, picked up pace within her movements. John quietly observed her. After stretches were certain, Angel forced herself into a run which was suppose to wind up in a front flip, but just wound up with her on the floor. "Ow!"
John bounced up and moved towards her aid. "Angel?!"
"Yeah?" She slowly moved to her knees, holding her side.
"Here, need help?"
"I guess I went a bit too fast, hm?" She smiled a bit up at him, as she offered her other arm to him for help.
He bent down slightly and helped her up. She leaned against him for a moment or two. "Thanks..."
"Anytime, hon "
"I hope the others downstairs didn't hear my crash-landing..."
"And if they did?" John smiled a little. "V'll keep them in line."
"I'd be embarrassed if they heard and came running up..." She smiled at him.
He kissed her forehead. She lifted her head so that her lips meet his. He kissed her urgently. She slipped into the kiss, with it going deeper, her arms slipping up around his neck. He smirked slightly as he continued to kiss her.
She smiled as she broke the kiss to whisper softly. "Mr. Vari... if I didn't know any better.. I'd say you missed kissing me."
"Now…whatever gave you that impression?" He grinned lopsidedly at her and kissed her again.
She returned his kiss before pulling back a bit, smiling. "I really need to work right now..."
"Yeah...I suppose you do. We're running out of time..."
With another kiss filled with love as gave him one more kiss in her mind just incase it was the last one they shared.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too... John Vari." She smiled softly as she returned his whisper.
He stayed close to her, never making any movements to back away. She lowered her head a bit as she moved back a step, then looking back up at him. "Help me practice?"
"Of course."
She smiled at him as they began, forty-five minutes later they were finished with several workouts. John wiped the sweat off his brow. "How're you feeling?"
"Good, thank you." She smiled as she went across the hall to the bathroom, knocking on the door to make sure no one was in there. The bathroom was empty and ready for use.
>V...  I'm going to wash up real quick... I'll be downstairs soon.<
>All right<
She slipped into the bathroom, closing the door behind her, after peeling out of her clothes, and noticing her bag was still in there, she took a rag and washed up real quick like she said before dressing once more. This time when Angel came back downstairs, she was encased in black leather, leather pants that held to her tightly, but allowed her movement, a black, soft leather halter also clung to her thin frame, excentuation curves. Golden hair was pulled back into a french braid, shorter strands of gold lay in wisps about her cheeks. Which earned her some howls and made John glare at them as he trailed behind Angel. Before dropping her bag by the staircase, she removed her calf high boots of soft, black leather and a few daggers.
>You certainly seem...better.<
>Yeah…still hurt...but dealing.<
Angel moved back to the couch, sitting down as she pulled on her boots, tucking in daggers into them and into other places.
Kyle had pulled V over to talk to her in low whispers, and V glanced down at her watch. "Almost time."
Fiery light blue eyes looked about the weres about them as she leaned back against the couch, then her attention moved to Kyle and V. John rested his hands on Angel's shoulders. She looked up at him, smiling softly.
"Do you think the exchange will take here, or elsewhere?" V questioned Angel.
Pools of blue looked to the woman with red hair. "Elsewhere. Talos may have braun...but he isn't stupid."
V gave her a  small nod.
"My suggestion is you and me stand in the street, a few of the wolves watching from hidden spots, in the house, trees, bushes. After Nick is in here... and safe, then follow."
"Yeah." V looked at Kyle. "I'll leave it to you on which ones to watch."
He nodded shortly. With that, Angel pulled a viel from inside her halter, filled with a crimson liquid. "This will allow you to follow. For those who can do spells....stabilize and expand it as you would a portal."
"Now I'm starting to like this part," Marckus, a werewolf, commented.
A brow rose as she glanced towards him.
"What?"
She smirked to herself as she looked away, laughing to herself, almost as if she had a secret.
>Do I even want to know?< V questioned.
>Just having some fun.<
>That can be dangerous,<  V said light heartedly and jokingly.
Angel looked V, pouting in the way she does when she usually gets what she wants. As they waited in the uncomfortable stillness, John started to work out the tension in her shoulders. Angel closed her eyes and started to purr softly as John did so. V sat down on the armrest of the sofa and slipped into deep thought, thinking of how beat up Nick must be at the moment. Angel suddenly stood up, fiery eyes staring at the door before a growl escaped her and a hellish yellow took the place of blue in her eyes. V looked up, hearing Angel move.
"It's time V."
She nodded at Kyle to the backdoor and stood up.
"Kyle... start picking people, those who can do magic....go with John."
"All right. Marckus, Ellea, Juan...and John, with me."
Angel glanced at John before turning her gaze to V. V checked herself for weapons before moving to the door.
"Be careful and come back to me," John whispered in Angel's ear.
She stood still for a moment, but without looking back at John, she moved to the door to stand beside V.
"Be careful out there," V told Kyle's group.
"Yeah, you too, eh?" Kyle winked at the two vampires before ushering his group out the backdoor.
"John…" Angel tossed him the viel of crimson.
He turned and caught it in one hand, locking eyes with her:
"Be careful..." she told him.
"You too."
She turned back to V, and motioned to the front door. "Shall we?"
"Let's."
"Your house."
V opened the door for Angel.
"Danke." She grinned as she stepped out onto the porch, glancing around for thugs.
When they walked out to the end of the driveway, there was a note under a rock with directions of the meeting place.
"Recognize this place?" She motioned at the note.
"It's a couple miles away...by one of the meat locker places."
"Mmm... great... meat lockers...well... lets go... the sun will be up soon.."
V nodded.
"Shall we run? Get there faster?"
"I would suggest flying, but are you up to it?"
"V... I never learned that..."
V blinked at her.
"You're kidding."
"No.... I learned more magics than the practical things... I don't shift forms very well either."
"After we get through this... care to teach me?"
"Yeah. Maybe we can find out what form you can change into. Err...here, take my hand. We need to hurry up."
"Alright." She took V's hand, knowing they had little time and Nick's life was at stake.
"Arm around neck so you won't fall off and go splat."
She did so. V's feet lifted off from the ground as she hovered in the air. "Hold on," she warned before she soared somewhat higher and flew towards the address.
Angel held on as they flew.  They arrived shortly and V's feet finally touched earth again.
"That's going to be interesting to get used to..."
"It's very handy," V said, glancing around.
"I bet. So…let's get your husband back."
V nodded as she walked, looking around still. Two small bon fires were lit and burning in the darkness. Angel followed close beside V, looking about for those who would have had Nick, and within a few minutes, they would have found a group of burly, ugly, demons, and amongst them, a form on the ground of a man. V gritted her teeth tightly together as she studied the body and she looked at the demons.
Angel moved forth. "Alright... I'm here... now let him go."
A form from within the demons rose up, taller then them and moved forward a bit. "Dear Angel... still the same as ever. Why do you align yourself with humans? Like that one at your side?"
V arched an eyebrow, watching them silently.
"I prefer their company over a bastard. Besides... this is no human. Hand the man over, I know he is still alive... I can hear his heart, and unless you want me... then let him go."
"I can take you by force, my dear. What makes you think I care?"
Va'Shanna watched the demons warily as her eyes hardened. "We had a deal."
"Want me alive?"
"...you'd take your life if this one is killed? I highly doubt that... but as you wish. This other is quiet amusing." With a hand raised, Nick's form was lifted from the ground and sent at Va'Shanna.
She caught him easily and grimaced at his beaten in face and the black and blue eyelids where she couldn't even make out if Nick was looking at her or not.
>Get him home, V. Now.<
"Come, come, Angel.  We did indeed have a deal, you for the human.  He is now going... now you come with me."
V shifted Nick in her arms and looked at Angel, feeling torn between her duty to Nick and her loyalty to Angel. >You'll be back with us soon.<
"Fine." She growled as she moved towards him, her hands behind her back, one grabbing the hilt of her dagger. Deadly glaring eyes turned to Talos. >V...don't hesitate! Get out of here... now!<
V backed up some, not liking to desert anyone, but she had to fold her cards this time. She hovered in the air and soared upwards, looking down at Angel and the others. Before the group were out of V's sight, Angel had pulled that dagger in an attempt to take at least one down, and then... she was surrounded and held. Talos looked on as one of his guards fell, then looked to the vampire.
"Still as spirited."
With a nod, another demon emerged, sending a fist into her side, where the brand would have been, causing Angel to fall to a knee, biting her lower lip hard. "That's better."
"Let us be on our way now. We have what we came for." Talos turned were a portal opened.  A few guards moved into it before him, him, the guards carrying Angel and then the guards from behind.
******

V shook her head as she hurried back to her house with Nick. The other weres were waiting for her when she got back and one of the werewolves that had some medical training eased herself over to V and told her she'd take care of Nick. V looked at all of them. "It's begun."
Meanwhile, Kyle looked at John and the others. "All righty then. How exactly does this portal thingy work with the blood and all?" He looked at John who just blinked at him.
"I'm just learning protection spells." John frowned a little, eyeing the vial of blood.
"Here, give me that," Ellea said, taking the vial. "It's done like so. Watch and learn cat."
John glared as she jump down from the tree and poured a few drops on the ground in a circle. Marckus fell beside her and extended his hands where the blood had been dropped as he worked his magic. As the two weaved their magic to form that precious portal that was like a wormhole, spreading across long expansions to another place, it sprung to life. A glowing circle of red rose from the ground twirling within itself to connect to the other side, once it was alive, it moved to stand on its side, 6.5 feet in diameter, strangely enough, a salty wind swept from it's dark confounds, the smell of the ocean, as did the sounds of night.
John gasped softly and looked at the others. "Wow..."
"Yeah," Kyle said. "We need to get the others here."
Kyle strayed away from the small group aways and release a wild, and loud howl, which sounded just like a wolf's. John blinked, amazed he was able to do it in human form.  Within minutes they were surround by the other weres, except for the doctor of course and two others that were left to guard her and the injured Nick. Va'Shanna was also present, which surprised John.
From he portal they had formed, an almost distant scream came forth, an echoed scream.

******

Before Angel was carried through the portal, she was knocked unconscious, strewn across a guard's shoulder before crossing the threshold to the far distant home of Talos.
Into the castle the hoard went, following Talos as he went towards the dungeon where the vampire would be placed.
Upon awakening, fiery eyes opened to stare straight into red. "Jackass..."
"Now is that anyway for a lady to talk? Learn to speak cleaner." Talos grinned as he rose from his seat next to the table that Angel was chained to. "I have the strangest feeling of deja vu, don't you? Now why is that? Oh yes... because this was the same table you were chained to when we caught you after killing my son!"
"Drop dead, bastard." Angel hissed out at him, but was meet with a blade cutting into her side, then holy water being poured into that open wound. This act sent up a scream from her, one that echoed throughout the castle and the land around it.

******

John and V's face hardened, hearing it. Kyle took in a deep breath. "Well...we don't know what we'll be up against when we enter...but...are we ready?"
V, naturally, was the first to nod and stepped forward. "Let's just hope someone has a plan to make sure we get back, eh?"
"You're just so...reassuring, V, really you are." Kyle rolled his eyes.
"I do try."
V looked back at them and at John. "I want you to stay close to the magic users...and stay safe."
He nodded and watched her as she stepped through the portal. Kyle whistled loudly and motioned for the weres to start going through, him and Connor being the last to enter. And with a glorious flash, the portal closed behind them.
******

When the weres and Va'Shanna would have emerged from the portal, they would find themselves indeed near the coast, a warm breeze blew, a familiar scent to Va'Shanna, not quite the smell of Ireland... but something similar to Scotland.  They stood onto top of a cliff that over looked the rocky shore below, the crashing of waves upon those rocks could be heard.  Birds called to one another as they rode the currents of the wind. Grassy hills rolled below them in the country side, and off in the distance, beyond a set of trees, the peeks of a castle could be seen, and once more from that castle came a blood curdling scream of pain.
V's eyes narrowed as she glanced around. "Kyle, I want you to split weres into groups. Max of ten. Move swift and quietly."
Kyle nodded in agreement and started to spilt the weres up, making the first five groups to go in the strongest, then evened the rest out with strong and weak ones. Himself, V, and Connor were the leaders. They moved as V told them, swift and quietly:

******

Talos smiled down at Angel as she screamed once more, eyes tightly closed, blonde hair matted with blood. "You know my dear...if you would just do what I say...let me rule you...all this pain can stop. "
"Not... likely." Angel spit towards Talos, it landing on his boot. And with a wave of his hand, another cut was made into her flesh, and holy water following it, this time on her cheek. And with it another scream as she lay there in agony, cuts along her stomach, arms and legs, steaming from the holy water.
Talos looked to a window, a grin growing over his lips. "Look like friends have come to play." With a swift movement, he was facing a guard. "Captain, send out your troops."
"Yes, sir."

******

Within a few more moment, another scream of pain came from the castle, birds took flight from the trees around it. V took out her sais quietly as they grew within distance of the castle. V motioned a few groups to look around the perimeter of the castle, and two others the other direction. Two groups were left to back her and the two Ulfrics up.  She always liked going through the front door. Always seemed much more exciting.
And from within the castle, armed demons and guards rushed out to meet the intruders. As V vamped out, the two Ulfrics transformed into their animal beings, each reaching a height between eight to nine feet. And then... the demons attacked the groups, swords and such in hand.
They each took their fill of demons to slaughter. V would fight with her sais, moving at rapid vampire speed, going for throats and hearts, or even breaking necks with her barehands. The weres, especially the wolves basically tore the demons bodies apart.
And as they fought, they pushed their attacks so they would gain access inside of the castle. Like Angel said earlier, the demons were easily killed. And within minutes, the castle was breached by vampire and weres.
Once V was in, covered in demon blood, she sniffed around and stretched her senses for Angel. Once she picked up Angel's "scent" she followed it.
As demons were killed or ran away, a loud roar came from the dungeons below,  Talos weakening from the failed attempt of this guards and the cowards.
>I'm coming,< V sent to Angel
>... hurry...<
And as V ran with vampiric speed, Kyle followed her scent as well. She stopped short when she reach a thick wooden door and she was slammed into it hard when Kyle hit into her back.
"Ow!" Stupid furball, she thought as Kyle backed off a little, shaking his head.
"V!" Angel screamed, hoping it was her. God she was in pain.
She looked at the were and back at the door. "I'm coming!" she roared through the door and looked back at Kyle. "Kyle, do your thing. The door needs to be broken down."
Kyle howled some, then back up for a running start before running towards the door. Using his were strength, he easily made a nice, big, hole in the door, and tumbled in, hitting the floor hard with a roll. V crouched a little as she entered the newly made hole and looked around.
The one guard there ran at the two Katanas in each hand, with every intent to slice him. Va'Shanna had interjected with a forward flip and kicked the guard hard in the side of his head with her foot. And what was disgusting was that her boot went into the head, and the thing dropped, leaving goo all over her boot and leg:
V frowned a little as she shook her leg a bit to free it from the head. When that didn't work, she stepped on the body a little to give herself leverage and pulled her leg out. Kyle rolled up and was on all fours and stared at Talos and Angel, snarling lowly. Angel looked terrible chained to the table, steaming cuts all over, the cuts at times with blisters. Talos just stood over her, holding a bottle of holy water, a good amount, the doctor was dead in the corner.
"Come any closer…and she'll swallow the rest of this."
V watched Talos closely, trying to reason if she could knock him down before the holy water would've given to Angel.
Angel clamped her mouth closed and nodded to V, and closing her eyes tightly. >V... just do it! <
Talos's free hand dropped to Angel's cheek, and with a talon, cut it open, during this, crimson eyes watched the others. Angel cringed, as the talon dug into her cheek, great another wound! V's hand brushed against Kyle's fur slightly as her lip curled slightly.
>Forgive me for whatever pain I'll cause you.<
>Va'Shanna! Just do something already!<
Then her hand slipped away from the werewolf and she ran at full speed towards Talos with vampiric speed and knocked Talos over and down to the ground. And then she'd start punching him in the face with quick, hard movements. As Talos fell, the bottle smashed against the table that  Angel was laying on, the water seeping under her soaking into her clothing and burning her flesh, hands in bloody fists, Angel cringed and tried not to scream as the water burner her. He grabbed her hand and tossed her to the side at one point after taking a few hits.
Kyle on the other hand, jumped on the table over Angel and started yanking at the chains/ropes that tied her down. The chains were old Talos didn't ever think to replace them!
V rolled and hit a wall hard, but shook her head, recovering and jumped upwards. "I'm not finished with you yet."
"Come and get me bitch... and you…" He swung an arm towards Kyle, pushing him off the table. "Sit."
Kyle snarled as he was pushed off the table.
V ran back to him and kicked him squarely in the jaw, sending him flying backwards. He jumped back up on it after a moment and went back breaking the chains, nipping Angel's wrists and ankles every now and then. Talos hit the wall behind him, causing stone to crumble, a growl from him and he was running at V, on his way... pushing Kyle back off the table before punching at V.
Angel peeked open an eye, the damn table burned! She took the hit and returned it, leading the fight away from the table.  Every hit he got, Talos returned to V, every punch, every kick.:
"Furball...please get me off this table!"
Kyle growled again as he jumped back up on the table again and broke the chains around her ankles, then went to her wrists.
"Is this your best?" V taunted as blood started to trickle down from her nose that he hit.
Once all the chains were broken, Kyle used his muzzle and rolled her off the table.
"Not feeling up to it today, unfortunately." But with that grin, he socked her in the gut a lot harder than he was hitting.
She grunted, wincing a little, then hit him with an upper cut. "You Gods are really overrated."
*PLOP!* "Ow…" Angel groaned a she hit the floor, coughing some. "That hurt..".
Kyle leapt off the table and licked Angel's face a bit as he rubbed his muzzle against her, motioning for her to get up.
Talos took a step back with that hit, spitting blood to the side, so gods do bleed. With a growl Angel grabbed the table edge to pull herself up, oh this bastard was going to die. She looked around for a sword, anything to gut him with.
"How do you like that, huh?" V did a roundhouse kick on him and stood in a karate stance and kicked him several times in the head.
Taking a few hits before he grabbed her feet, hauling her off her feet, tossing her into the wall he hit earlier. Angel found a rusted sword off to the side, she pointed to it in hopes that the wolf would get it for her. V hissed in pain as her back came in contact with the wall rather hard. She crumbled to the floor and stayed there for a few moments, dazed.
Kyle stared at Angel for a few moments, trying to comprehend what she was motioning for, then saw the object. He padded on his paws towards it, and put his mouth around the hilt of it and dragged it back. Little pebbles from the stone would have fallen atop her, nothing to harm her just broken stone that was crushed from Talos and then her hitting the wall.
"Thank you..." She took the sword, and slowly made her way towards Talos. "Talos! Wanna know how your son died?"
She spat out some blood and winced as she yanked out a tooth. "Oh man... You're gonna pay for that. Do you know how long it took me to preserve these teeth over the centuries?!" She pushed herself up.
Before she ran back over to Talos, she watched Angel. As Talos turned to face the now free Angel who lifted a sword rather shakily and shoved it into his stomach, trembling as she stood.
"Go back to hell."
V smiled despite herself.
Talos looked down at the sword before punching Angel away from him who fell and collapsed on the stone floor, before he fell back, pulling the rusted sword out.
"Uh oh." She shook her head as she made her way back to Talos.
>V.... break his neck...<
>On it.<
She jumped on the God's back, wrapping her legs around his waist and locking her ankles together. Her hands grabbed either side of Talos' head. "Been a pleasure knowing you."
He tried to move, but didn't as he was bleeding heavily through the wound in his stomach and side. "Bitch.."
"Asshole." She twisted his neck until she heard a loud crack.
And then the "god" was still.
"I hate him," Angel groaned from the floor, a hand over a still open wound on her stomach. "Can we go home now?"
V sniffled a bit as she released her hold on him and fell to the floor in a crouching position.
"Yeah, I could use some home time." She walked over to Angel and Kyle.
"You feel as shitty as I do?"
V rotated her head a bit as several popping sounds came from it. "Yeah, just about." She smiled a little, then offered Angel her hand.
A hand rose to take hers, wincing as she moved to stand. "Holy shit I hurt..".
"You'll heal.' She wrapped her arm around Angel's waist carefully, letting her know that she was willing to be used as a crutch. "C'mon Kyle, we're leaving."
And she did lean against her, but did manage to walk some. Angel's hip wound from the brand was bleeding quite heavily as were several other wounds that stood open because of the holy water that contaminated the wound.
"When we get back home, I think you and Nick well be having fun healing together."
"As long as John doesn't baby me...I'm fine." She smiled softly, just thinking of his reaction when he'd see her.
V chuckled softly as they exited teh room, Kyle trotting behind them.
"So... have any trouble getting here?"
"Actually...it was...amazingly easy."
"Good."
"Let's go home now...please?"
She nodded as they started to exit the castle, where all the weres were waiting, recovering from minor wounds. She looked at the weres, smiling a bit that they were okay, but continued to lean against V, wincing some as a wound on her leg was hurting. When they were out, Kyle transformed to his human form and rather very bare.
"So, V," he said, seeming to feel comfortable with his bareness, "how do we get back...to our world, exactly?"
Angel closed her eyes as she rested her head on V's shoulder.
"I'll...figure something out," V said, looking around and biting her lower lip.
"V... how far can you telepathically contact someone?"
"I'm not...sure," she said honestly, frowning. "I never had to try it between different worlds."
"It's not a different world. We're somewhere in Europe..."
"Oh...well then...that changes a lot of things." She felt momentarily stupid and glared as Kyle chuckled softly. "I suppose it depends on who I'm contacting."
"Nick... if he's conscious?"
V looked down at the ground. "I'll give it a try."
>Nick. Nick...<  V stretched her senses as she closed her eyes and slowly they squinted. >Nick...hear me.<
"Hurry... the sun is coming up..." Angel's voice sounded desperate as she stared towards the horizon were the start of gold started to rise.

Back in the states, and in the house of Nick and V, he opened his eyes and whispered verbally as he thought. 'V…"
>Tell John and the rest of the weres that we need a way out...now. Tell them to start it now.<
>Huh?< he said, squinting his eyes as he felt tremors of pain and looked to see John standing among weres. "John...they're ready...and when I get better, I'll kick your ass for practicing magic"

"Damnit... screw this…" Angel slowly moved from V, falling to the ground, biting into her wrist, tearing the flesh, scattering it on the ground before her and with a weak effort, started a portal that fluctuated badly. But it would show at V's home enough to let them know to stabilize it there.
Back at home, the magick users saw this and started talking as they went to strength it. As this happened, V looked around and told the weres to go in. "Kyle, take Angel, I'll make sure the rest makes it."
"I'm...going to feel this when I wake up…" Angel fell unconscious as the beginning of the portal just pretty much zapped what little strength she had.
Kyle scooped Angel up in his arms as he entered the portal. And all the others entered, and V clenched her teeth together as the sun started to rise more. With the two three weres, she grabbed them roughly and threw them as she followed behind them.

******

Soon, the uncrowded living room of the house was crowded with bodies. Had Angel been awake, she probably would have been complaining about how much she hurt. V groaned, realizing that she had been trapped under several bodies. "Get off of me!"
Kyle and John had moved Angel upstairs to a guest bedroom to clean her up and bandaged her up as well. They would've probably just covered her with the blankets and sheets of the bed when that task was done, until they could talk to V for some clothes to borrow that would be loose enough.
A few hours later, Angel would have woken, groggy and well in pain still. John would be there, keeping a vigil look after her.
"Hey..." she whispered softly to him.
"Hey honey." He smiled a little, moving the chair closer to the bed and took her hand gently in his.
"Is Nick okay?
"Yeah...he had to be taken to the hospital. Broken ribs, arm, and ankle with a mild concussion. V's with him." John looked down. "But he'll be fine."
"Good." She closed her eyes softly: "Are you okay?"
"Oh, I kinda think I'm doing better than you."
"Probably…"
He rubbed her hand.
"How long was I out?"
"Five hours."
"Joy... you've been here all that time?"
"Yeah."
"I love you."
"I love you too." He kissed her softly on the lips.
She returned it, smiling softly. "Anything to eat?"
"Well, if you're up to drinking, I could get you a glass. Before Kyle and the others left, they set up an IV with you for three hours."
"IV's are fine... just... not filling…" She smiled softly.
"I can imagine. I'll be back in a moment."
"Okay."
He came back in a few minutes with a glass and small pitcher in hand. He put them down on top of a dresser and poured some in a glass. Then, moving back over to Angel, he put the glass down for a moment and helped her sit up before handing it to her. She groaned some after sitting up, but then took the glass and sipped at the blood; finally replacing the blood in her body.
"Feeling any better?"
"Not really…but I will in a while... long sleep... and lots of feeding.. I'll be fine."
He nodded softy.
"How are you feeling babe?"
"Better now that you're awake."
"Has V called yet on how Nick is doing?"
"Yes, she has. He'll be okay, thank the Lord."
"Good."
He sat back down. She drank the rest if the blood from the glass before setting it down.
"Thank you."
"Yep…now…let's get some rest, hmm?"
